Sedum GoldFlame Spruce Rambler

GoldFlameSpruce – A hardy, mat-forming alpine plant native to the UK and other parts of Europe. Strong and fast-growing plant, it makes a good lawn alternative(not for trampling on, however), providing dense, albeit less robust ground cover. Similar to our other spruce sedum – BlueSpruce but this is golden-orange-red, and more vigorous.
In the summer months it produces lemon yellow flowers that are attractive to pollinating insects. It also looks great combined with other plants that enjoy growing in free-draining soils, like sempervivums and other hardy sedums.
For best results, grow Sedum reflexum in full sun in well-drained soil. It needs very little pruning or aftercare.

This Sedum grows gold and flame coloured ‘spruce-like’ leaves 15 to 20cm high, plus 10cm more sunshine yellow flowers each summer,
Spreads far and wide, rooting and branching as it rambles.

Sedum reflexum aka Spruce Stonecrop (=Sedum rupestre)
Its fantastic vigorous species of Stonecrop, excellent as a groundcover or ‘golden lawn substitute’ in hot, sunny areas. It forms a mat of gold and flame coloured  leaves, arranged around the stems like spruce needles. Clusters of bright yellow star flowers appear in summer. A fast grower, this is best kept away from slower alpine plants that it might smother as it rambles over them.
Therefore its a great choice for tubs and mixed containers …transplant the sedum elsewhere when all else has withered and faded.
